Golden Freddy is a supernatural entity that materialized within the MD-Foundation, specifically in the Storage Unit 08. He is substantially different from the other animatronics in that he is more like a ghost or poltergeist, being able to teleport and affect near electronic devices by emitting electromagnetic background radiation, as explained in his manifestation log.
It is heavily implied that Golden Freddy is possessed by Evan Afton's soul, William Afton's youngest son and Michael and Elizabeth's younger brother.
History[]
First Manifestation[]

Golden Freddy materializing itself.
Seconds before the entity appeared, the ceiling light in a storage unit inside the Foundation started flickering and the TV put on color bars. Then, a radio turns on by itself and starts playing a lullaby and Golden Freddy's silhouette illuminates the whole room, causing the lights to go out. Finally, the animatronic materializes sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall with his head hanging.
Interviews[]
Agent Dennis Crane is assigned the task of interviewing Golden Freddy for the first time, but the interview yields no answers. Once again, a lullaby starts playing from the radio, making the footage a bit blurry and glitchy.
During his second interview, Golden Freddy expressed having a plan to get revenge on William Afton, supposedly intending to take him to hell to torture him. By his third and last interview, Agent Crane questions Golden Freddy about his human life, but he doesn't respond even though he claimed to remember everything and know who he was. Given Freddy's refusal to speak, Agent Crane started talking about an accident that happened in 1983 revolving a prank gone wrong:[1]
- Agent Crane
In the year 1983 there was an accident, an accident that led to a child being put into a coma, and then later death. This was William Afton's youngest son.- Golden Freddy
Cease this conversation.- Agent Crane
His son was brutally and severely injured by one of the animatronics due to a prank gone wrong including his own brother, Michael Afton, and friends- Golden Freddy
STOP!- Agent Crane
For the remainder of that boy's life, he lied on a hospital bed with horrifying brain activity that highly suggested that the boy was being tormented and perhaps even tortured by their own subconscious as their mind collapses in on itself while his father could do nothing but sit with him and cry...- Golden Freddy
I SAID STOP!
Features and Abilities[]
Springlocks[]
Golden Freddy features the same mechanical system as Springtrap, called springlocks. Unlike Springtrap, though, Golden Freddy's endoskeleton seems to be sprung open, rendering him unable to move.

Golden Freddy's radiation map.
Radiation Emission[]
Golden Freddy is capable of giving off small amounts of electromagnetic background radiation, varying from 2 to 9 REM (0.02 to 0.09 Sv). This number can rise up to 300 REM (3 Sv) when he is teleporting. In a short period of time, this level of radiation can likely cause nausa, vomiting, headache, fever and confusion. If not treated, there is a 5% to 95% chance of dying 4 to 6 weeks later.[2]
Personality[]
“I am death! That is who I am and that is all I'll ever be now torture waiting to be unleashed on those who are broken enough to destroy the lives of innocence. This is not a place of honor, not a place of love or respect but a place a senseless brutality and pointless hate and evil.” |
Golden Freddy speaks in a cold, calculating and reticent manner. He often 'twists' his words, similar to what Ballora does. The MD-Foundation theorizes that this is not a coincidence. Since both of them remember their past lives, they could be using this manner of speaking as a strange way of coping with their traumas.[3]
Theories[]
- A lot of fans theorize that Golden Freddy is possessed by two souls: Evan Afton and Cassidy, a vengeful spirit from the original Five Nights at Freddy's lore. The main argument supporting this theory is that Golden Freddy's eyes sparkle to indicate which soul is speaking, the right one being Cassidy and the left one being Evan.
- Although this theory seems to be generally accepted, MD-Foundation logs don't mention anywhere the posibility of Golden Freddy being haunted by two souls, only acknowledging Evan.
- Michael Afton is seemingly the one who pulled a prank on his brother along his friends, resulting in Evan's death. This mirrors the original Bite of '83, in which the Crying Child's older brother placed his head inside Fredbear's jaws. However, during a father-son meeting, Michael mentions that it's William's fault that his brother is dead. He might could have said this in the sense that William's creations were what ultimately caused his siblings' deaths, and not that William murdered them directly.
